Our precious little girl is here!

Adam and I welcomed our precious little girl, Tessa Phyllis into the world on Friday August 21, 2009 at 3:35 PM. She weighed 7 pounds and 13 ounces and was 21 inches long. Her journey into the world was a very long one, but we are so happy to finally hold our little girl in our arms.
I was put on bed rest a week prior due to high blood pressure and swelling. After being checked numerous times, my doctor still didn't like how things were going. On Thursday the 20th, he recommended an induction. He felt that the risks of my high blood pressure far outweighed the risks of the induction. So at about 7 PM on the 20th, we were admitted into the hospital to be induced. We knew a long night was ahead of us. My blood pressure was closely monitored all throughout the night. Luckily, my body progressed rather well to the induction. My water was broken at about 1 AM and we started pushing at around 11 AM. I tried pushing our little one out for 3 hours, but there seemed to be little to no progression. At around 2:30 PM, the doctor came in and strongly urged us to consider a C-section. This was not something either Adam and I had wanted, but we had been laboring for roughly 20 hours at this point. We agreed to the C-section and I was in surgery by 3 PM. At 3:35 PM, our little girl was out. Despite the hard delivery, we were truly blessed with a healthy little girl.
Today our little one is already a week old. I know we have to cherish every moment because it goes by so fast. We thank God for our little one and for bringing her to us safely.

37 Weeks!

It is amazing to think about this pregnancy drawing to a close. Only three weeks to go before our little girl will be here. We both can't wait for her arrival, and pray that everything goes smoothly.
This week has been a rough one because I went back to work. One benefit is that starting tomorrow, my part time status kicks in and I get to go home around noon every day. That will allow me to come home rest and more importantly...put my feet up. I am frantically trying to tie up all loose ends in my classroom to help my stress level go down. My classroom will just have to survive without me.

Our little girl's room!

Our little girl's due date is quickly approaching, and we are almost finished preparing her room for her. We thought a few pics of her room would be nice to share.

There is still so much to be done in the 5 weeks left. Plus, Mommy will be going back to work in one more week, so gotta keep working. So much to do, so little time.

31 Weeks!

Only 9 weeks to go! Our little girl is getting to be very active. Not only is Daddy Adam able to feel the baby move, but he is able to see it too. Time seems to be going by way too quickly for us. Before we know it, she will be here!

Crib Construction!

As we prepare for our little one to arrive, there seems to be so much to do. Adam and I finally decided on a crib set we both liked. Most of the pieces came pre-assembled, but soon to be Daddy Adam and Uncle Shane were able to share in the fun of piecing the crib together. They both looked like they had everything under control, and it didn't take them very long to finish.

Just look at that craftsmanship!

Here is the finished product. We hope our little one likes what Mommy and Daddy picked out for her.
We can't wait for Baby Girl Turley to arrive! What will our next project be???

Our Family Week of Joy!

Recently, our family was able to come together to celebrate the joyous wedding of my sister Raleigh to Shane Holland. The event turned out to be so memorable for the happy couple, along with our family who was able to be a part of it. We are so lucky to get another wonderful brother-in-law added to our family!
Despite very swollen feet, my hubby and I were still able to get all dressed up and enjoy the celebration!
It was at a beautiful location called the Windmill. The reception was held inside this old barn. Everything looked gorgeous!

Towards the end of the reception, Adam and his friend Ian got a little restless. They figured out how get the flash to go off on the disposable cameras without taking a photo. They seemed to really think this was funny. I guess boys will be boys!

Throughout the week, we were able to enjoy some much needed rest and relaxation with the family. The Meyer Family left to go home on Thursday, but before they left we were able to get some fun memories squeezed in. Here are some cute pics of Jack enjoying the chaos of our family and also the swimming pool.

We know boys aren't big fans of pink, but the pink floaty toy was actually a gift from Adam's mom for our new baby girl that will be coming in September. I don't think she will mind that her cousin borrowed it. He seemed to really enjoy floating around, despite the color. We can't wait to get our little girl in the pool!

The Morgan family left to fly home to North Carolina on Saturday. Friday night we were able to enjoy one last family night at Uncle Nick and Aunt Katie's house.

Ben and Luke loved playing blocks with Uncle Adam and Aunt Reagan.
They loved watching them come crashing down too!

It is always sad to see family go after a week of fun. We miss them and look forward to the next time we can all be together.

Our sweet injured kitty!

As many of you already know, we are big animal lovers in the Turley household. As you can see here, even the Turley animals have grown to accept and love each other. In a previous post, we described all of our furry little friends in detail. Towards the end of the post, we talked about our recent two kittens (Tobias and G.O.B. or "Job") and how we were hoping to find a good home for them. As you can see, we have given that search up. Although 5 cats are a handful, each one brings so much to our household.

Our kitten G.O.B. (yes, it is pronounced Job like in the Bible) loves to climb. When Adam was repainting our bedroom, we had a hard time keeping him off the ladder, as you can see. Unfortunately, G.O.B. didn't know that he shouldn't be playing with ladders when they aren't secure. Last Tuesday, G.O.B. climbed the ladder while it was leaning against the wall, and it came tumbling down on his hind legs. Right away, we knew that he was seriously injured from the extremely heavy ladder. We took him to the vet and when the X-rays came back...the vet did not sound very hopeful. He had fractured his right hip socket and they weren't sure if there were any other injuries not visible to the scan. They recommended that we go to get a consult with an animal specialist to better see our options. Luckily, the specialist was hopeful that G.O.B. only needed this single surgery that our own vet could preform. The surgery consisted of removing the socket part of the hip, and letting scar tissue grow around it to support his weight. We were able to bring him home on Thursday night. Most of our pets would not leave his side.

We eventually had to place the cone around his head because he would not leave his pain patch alone. It was so sad to see him in this state. However, despite how bad he looked, his spirits were exceptionally high. Maybe it was just the wonderful pain meds :-) Or maybe it was because he was thankful he had just made it through one of his nine lives successfully. Either way, we were thrilled to think that we were not going to have to put our 7 month old kitty to sleep.

Since then, G.O.B. has found comfort in the small things on his road to recovery. Here he is stowed away in our nephew's car seat. We almost thought they were going to have to leave it with us since he found so much comfort in it. Once his stitches come out in a few days, Adam and I will be working some of his leg muscles in some basic kitty physical therapy. We never imagined we would be doing that! We are just thankful that he is on the mend and that he is almost back to his old self. We just hope he has learned his lesson with ladders :-)
