As many of you already know, we are big animal lovers in the Turley household. As you can see here, even the Turley animals have grown to accept and love each other. In a previous post, we described all of our furry little friends in detail. Towards the end of the post, we talked about our recent two kittens (Tobias and G.O.B. or "Job") and how we were hoping to find a good home for them. As you can see, we have given that search up. Although 5 cats are a handful, each one brings so much to our household.

Our kitten G.O.B. (yes, it is pronounced Job like in the Bible) loves to climb. When Adam was repainting our bedroom, we had a hard time keeping him off the ladder, as you can see. Unfortunately, G.O.B. didn't know that he shouldn't be playing with ladders when they aren't secure. Last Tuesday, G.O.B. climbed the ladder while it was leaning against the wall, and it came tumbling down on his hind legs. Right away, we knew that he was seriously injured from the extremely heavy ladder. We took him to the vet and when the X-rays came back...the vet did not sound very hopeful. He had fractured his right hip socket and they weren't sure if there were any other injuries not visible to the scan. They recommended that we go to get a consult with an animal specialist to better see our options. Luckily, the specialist was hopeful that G.O.B. only needed this single surgery that our own vet could preform. The surgery consisted of removing the socket part of the hip, and letting scar tissue grow around it to support his weight. We were able to bring him home on Thursday night. Most of our pets would not leave his side.
We eventually had to place the cone around his head because he would not leave his pain patch alone. It was so sad to see him in this state. However, despite how bad he looked, his spirits were exceptionally high. Maybe it was just the wonderful pain meds :-) Or maybe it was because he was thankful he had just made it through one of his nine lives successfully. Either way, we were thrilled to think that we were not going to have to put our 7 month old kitty to sleep. Since then, G.O.B. has found comfort in the small things on his road to recovery. Here he is stowed away in our nephew's car seat. We almost thought they were going to have to leave it with us since he found so much comfort in it. Once his stitches come out in a few days, Adam and I will be working some of his leg muscles in some basic kitty physical therapy. We never imagined we would be doing that! We are just thankful that he is on the mend and that he is almost back to his old self. We just hope he has learned his lesson with ladders :-)

I say you have people sign the cone, like a kid with a cast. I will be signing it:
V=1/3*PI*r^2*h
