Tessa's Expressions

Tessa is beginning to make some very precious facial expressions. We have learned that she loves laying on her back. We get the most out of her when she is laying on her changing table. After her clean diaper is put on, she will smile and coo at Mommy and Daddy. It is so wonderful to start seeing her acknowledge our faces and sounds.

We have also found that she likes to lay in her diaper without clothes on. This is something that her cousin Jack likes to do as well. Who needs clothes...right??? Enjoy!

One exciting day!

Yesterday Tessa turned 1 month old. We can't believe our baby is already 1 month old. She is such a blessing to us and we are so thankful to her. Here she is on her 1 month birthday.

Tessa got a present on her 1 month birthday, her cousin Mia Leann! Mia was born at 12:07 AM on the 21st of September. We are so happy to have another little cousin. Congratulations Auntie Katie and Uncle Nick!

We spent the day Sunday waiting for our little cousin to arrive. Here is her cousins Calvin and Tessa, and aunties Emily and Reagan waiting for her arrival.
Here is Papa Kerger holding Tessa and Grandpa Berneburg holding Calvin.
Tessa did a lot of sleeping at the hospital. Grammy Kerger loves to hold little Tessa and is great at getting her to sleep!
Our family has been so blessed this year. We still have another baby and sister-in-law to welcome into the family in November. What a year!

Tessa's Two Week Photos

Tessa is now almost 4 weeks old. We can't believe how time is flying. On her two week birthday, we decided to take some shots of her. My father has a really nice camera, so we asked him to give it a try. We are very pleased with how the pictures turned out. Here are a few of our favorites. Now everyone seems to be requesting photo shoots with "Papa". I think we found him a new hobby :-)

Tessa's Hospital Pictures

Here are Tessa's hospital pictures. We recently received them in the mail and wanted to share these precious shots with everyone. She slept through the entire photo shoot. Our little girl is such a blessing to us!

Tessa's First Week

Here at the Turley house, we are still adjusting to having our little baby here. Adam and I are so surprised to see how easy of an adjustment it has been. She is such an amazing baby!

There is lots and lots of sleeping taking place. Which also is good because it is helping Mommy recovery from her surgery. Tessa has a special way of folding her hands when she sleeps. It is almost as if she is praying!

Daddy seems to be enjoying his time with his little girl!
We had our first bath this week. Mommy and Daddy learned a thing or two about bath time. Make sure you have something water proof underneath, or there may be an accident on Mommy and Daddy's bed. Oh well :-)

Even our animals are getting used to our new little one. They enjoy sleeping right next to her and check and sniff her constantly. Even our dogs seem to be getting protective over her.

I wonder what is in store for us next week?

Our precious little girl is here!

Adam and I welcomed our precious little girl, Tessa Phyllis into the world on Friday August 21, 2009 at 3:35 PM. She weighed 7 pounds and 13 ounces and was 21 inches long. Her journey into the world was a very long one, but we are so happy to finally hold our little girl in our arms.
I was put on bed rest a week prior due to high blood pressure and swelling. After being checked numerous times, my doctor still didn't like how things were going. On Thursday the 20th, he recommended an induction. He felt that the risks of my high blood pressure far outweighed the risks of the induction. So at about 7 PM on the 20th, we were admitted into the hospital to be induced. We knew a long night was ahead of us. My blood pressure was closely monitored all throughout the night. Luckily, my body progressed rather well to the induction. My water was broken at about 1 AM and we started pushing at around 11 AM. I tried pushing our little one out for 3 hours, but there seemed to be little to no progression. At around 2:30 PM, the doctor came in and strongly urged us to consider a C-section. This was not something either Adam and I had wanted, but we had been laboring for roughly 20 hours at this point. We agreed to the C-section and I was in surgery by 3 PM. At 3:35 PM, our little girl was out. Despite the hard delivery, we were truly blessed with a healthy little girl.
Today our little one is already a week old. I know we have to cherish every moment because it goes by so fast. We thank God for our little one and for bringing her to us safely.

37 Weeks!

It is amazing to think about this pregnancy drawing to a close. Only three weeks to go before our little girl will be here. We both can't wait for her arrival, and pray that everything goes smoothly.
This week has been a rough one because I went back to work. One benefit is that starting tomorrow, my part time status kicks in and I get to go home around noon every day. That will allow me to come home rest and more importantly...put my feet up. I am frantically trying to tie up all loose ends in my classroom to help my stress level go down. My classroom will just have to survive without me.
